Progress of International Association of Hydrogeologists

Abstract: IAH was founded in 1956. Senior Chinese experts attended the 17th and the 18th International Congress of Hydrogeology in 1985. More and more Chinese delegates were present at the conferences since then. The IAH National Chapter of China was established in 1987 and continuously organized related activities. The IAH members in China have increased in these years. IAH congresses have been hold in China twice. The 21th congress was held in Guilin City in October, 1988. The 34th congress was held in Beijing in October, 2006.There are a lot of national conferences on Hydrogeology and Groundwater sciences almost every year. Many Chinese scholars are in Editorial Board of Hydrogeology Journal. IAH China chapter is responsible for the Chinese translation for the abstract. The book series of the association has been widely disseminated in China, which has promoted the development of qroundwater science in China. IAH’s Strategic Overview Series (IAH-SOS) aims to inform professionals in a variety of sectors of key interactions with groundwater resources and hydrogeological science. Those titles are as followed: Ecosystem Conservation and Groundwater, Energy Generation and Groundwater, Food Security and Groundwater, Global Change and Groundwater, Human Health and Groundwater, Resilient Cities and Groundwater, UN-SDGs 2030 Essential Indicators for Groundwater, Mining Enterprises and Groundwater, Climate-change Adaptation and Groundwater. They are guiding groundwater resources and hydrogeological sciences.
