Abstract:
Scientific and reasonable delineation of drinking groundwater conservation district is helpful in preventing groundwater source from being polluted with the lowest costs. The city of Hohhot in Inner Mongolia is taken as an example in this paper. On the basis of analyzing the hydrogeological conditions of the study are, the groundwater seepage field is simulated by using MODFLOW and the particle reverse tracer simulation is carried out by using MODPATH. The range of primary and secondary conservation districts is determined with the particle tracing range of 100 d and 1 000 d. Based the features of groundwater sources, the management measures for groundwater protection area are proposed. Furthermore, reasonable suggestions of groundwater protection from both engineering technology and socio-economic sides are also put forward. The results provide references for the development trend and research direction of delineation methods of groundwater protection areas, and are helpful in realizing the sustainable development of groundwater resources.
